Concern about Trust Schools

Leicester Green party has written to Sir Peter Soulsby to ask him to support the following amendments in the upcoming Education Bill.

Parents must be balloted before any school can acquire trust status.

Clear criteria permitting local authorities to open new community schools are set out.

Clear procedures for are put in place for the vetting and monitoring of trusts.

The letter made it clear that the Greens are not in favour of this Bill generally, and are opposed to marketisation of education. However, we recognise that a bad bill with good amendments is beter than a bad bill with no amendments.
